The telnet error shows that there is an issue at OS/networking level.

Is there a firewall anywhere in the picture?
Or OS firewall on media server or client?

Do you have bpcd log folder on the client?
Is anything logged in bpcd when you use bptestbpcd from media server to client?
....\admincmd > bptestbpcd -client crsprd1 -verbose -debug

firewall is off for both master and media as well as on the client

Here are the logs provided to me

D:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\admincmd>bptestbpcd.exe -client crsprd1 -

verbose

<16>bptestbpcd main: Function ConnectToBPCD(crsprd1) failed: 25

<16>bptestbpcd main: cannot connect on socket

cannot connect on socket

D:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\admincmd>hostname

bptestbpcd confirms the telnet test - there is an issue at OS/networking level.
You are not going to solve it at NBU level.

Start with OS team.

PS:
Probably silly question - have you tested basic connectivity such as ping and tracert?
