Hi all,

Due to the sturcture change of Solaris 10 10/08 u6, the bmrsrtadm script can't find the boot media from Solaris 10 u6 DVD media. Does anyone find a workaround solution for this issue?

Best Regards,

Johnston

According to the Sun, the sturcture of the installation media is changed. is it related?

Structure Change for Installation Media

Starting with the Solaris 10 10/08 release, the structure of the Solaris Operating System DVD and Solaris Software - 1 CD have changed for the SPARC platform. Slice 0 is no longer at the top of the directory structure. Therefore, the structure of the x86 and SPARC DVD and Solaris Software - 1 CD are the same. This change in structure makes setting up an install server easier if you have a mix of platforms, such as a SPARC install server and x86 media.

Hi Johnston,

This seems to be a known issue.

They have an EEB ready to take care of this.

Contact Symantec Tech Support and while describing this problem if you also quote this number, it might help: "ET1473582".

Hi AmolV,

I have tried to find the "ET1473582", but I can't search it in Netbackup Enterprise server product support. Would you mind to post it here? Thank you.

Sorry, it doesnt look like this is yet available on their public support website.

I know about this since we too faced same issue recently and had contacted them and got an EEB that helped us.

May be once you contact support, they will provide you access to the EEB.

Is it possible (or supported) to use the u5 installation media to restore a system that was installed with u6?

Or, is there a specific patch that resolves this issue?  And if so, would this patch still allow the use of u5 installation media?

Hi Matthew

Dont think you can use an earlier release of Solaris on you SRT to restore an Update 6 machice.
See the following technote, symantec advise against it.
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/323877.htm

Symantec should be able to provide you with a set of patches to allow you to  create the update 6 SRT.
You should contact there support for this.
