For reporting use Admin Console reports or simply use OpsCenter it is complimentary and is nice easy to use

For duplication you can setup disk staging units or leverage storage life cycle policies

check with below TN for same

If you go with storage life cycle policies (SLP)
below is the cheatsheet containing all the commands you would need handy when dealing with slp day to day basis

DSSU uses Basic Disk.
This means that only basic reporting is available.
1) Nothing available to report on pending duplications.
You can have a look at the Reports section of the GUI to see what reports are available in the Disk sub-section.

2) NBU will do it automatically for staged/duplicated images when High Water Mark is reached.
See Disk Staging Cleanup Behavior: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH66149

3) See Disk section of Reports

4) Throughput can be seen in bptm logs on the media server. (Log folders need to be created.)

Another DSSU TN:
Disk Staging Relocation Behavior: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH44719

If you want the advanced features and reporting that is available with Advanced disk and SLP's, you need the necessary licensing to use that.

not sure if bpduplicate can show up pending duplications, but activity monitor would show up queued duplication jobs (only if target and source duplication have exceeded thresholds defined .. concurrency)

2>  How to free space which are duplicated.

confirm from catalog on image copy being duplicated to tape or another storage unit.. then expire primary image ... simple....

3> Any report to fnd number of terabytes writtn on disk on particular date.

again.. verify successful backups ran on disk (presuming it is primary storage unit) and manually calculate size (it is in KB)... incomplete or failed backup images must be removed to avoid disk space issues...

4> Any report to calculate throuput for the data wrtn on tape or on disk

activity monitor or opscenter should be helpful here.. however backup would be lower on throughput side unless FT-SAN.. and duplication must be on higher... not sure if there will be throughput shown in activity monitor.. as data is not streamed from client to secondary copy.. ... duplication would be from primary successful image to secondary storage unit (disk or tape or OST etc.) hence it should be much more faster.....

hope this would help you

last question:

I have my destaging scheduled between 9 am to 4 pm but end time goes to 3pm. Why it just stops there, I have it configured to run it for 4 days and it does it for every day. Why it stopes 1 or 2 hour before?

Please clarify 'stop'?

Do the duplications finish at 3pm?

'scheduled between 9 am to 4 pm' is a 'start window'. Duplications are allowed to start within this period depending on the calendar or frequency interval in the staging schedule.

What type of schedule is configured for the staging?
Calendar or Frequency? At what kind of interval?

If you want the staging schedule to check for duplications at a regular interval between 9 and 4, choose Frequency schedule and set it to every 1 hour.

NBU will now check once per hour between 9 and 4 for staging that is due and kick off if any is found.

No duplication do not finsh.

I am using the only saturday backup to destage, the schedule is monday to tuesday in STU from 9am to 4pm. So it should pickup everything wat was baked on saturday.

Also it is not able to complete the destage in Monday and Tuesday and I still have lot of images pending to be duplicated.

Please help us understand what '... end time goes to 3pm...' means?
