Decoding the "Friendly text" version of the nbemmcmd errorsdb output

Luc_H
Level 3

Hi All,

We need to decode the output of the nbemmcmd -errorsdb command:

The fields we're interested in are the Status and Operation (and possibly what the String1 field is)

For example what does a Status 8196, 4412, or 5 mean. Also it would be handy to know what the corresponding operation number refers to.

Thanks in advance.
Luc.

Example output:

Near as I can tell, you're the first person in the history of NetBackup to ask us what those things mean.  And I am completely clueless.  All I can tell you is it relates to one of the nebulous ... SOMETHINGS ... making up one of the tables in the EMM database.

Also, it looks like another instance where we use null strings instead of "*NULL*" which mucks up the number of fields in a line depending on whether or not String 1 has a value or is empty.  The fact that it hasn't been caught to this point is probably another indicator that nobody's found this output useful enough to, at the very least, try to write an awk script around it.  ;)

If you really want this answer, it will probably take a support case - and probably some polite but persistent demands to get it escalated, perhaps all the way up to the developer level, because they're probably the only people who actually know what they've put into there.

Sorry I don't have better news.

I sort of figured it might be this way.

It's a shame I'm no longer with Symantec, I could have just looked in the source code myself.

Thanks anyways.
