This may be a silly question, but I haven't been able to find an answer for it.
Earlier this week, I increased the maximum number of backups on our NBU master server from two (2) to four (4) to facilitate the creation of two extra copies of a final database backup to be sent offsite - call them copies 3 and 4 - before the database server is decommissioned. They were created successfully, and have since been sent offsite.
I want to go back and change the maximum number of backups back to two (2) on my master server, but here is my concern: will changing the setting back to 2 have any effect on the ability to restore from copies 3 or 4 of this particular backup in the future? Will NBU look at its maximum setting of 2 and look at copies 3 or 4 as being invalid or something?
I know, probably silly, but I just wanted to see if I could get some confirmation before I invalidate these backups or something equally stupid.
Thanks,
Wayne

In a word no, you'll be fine. It's only a limit when you want to backup.
