We have a master server and 3 media server in our enviornment all windows based.
All media servers have a msdp configured (pure disk). On one of the pools we are running out of space.
Can we increase the space of the pool ?
How can we check if cleaning is working properly or not?
How to manually expire images that are old to retain some space?

The max MSDP pool size on Windows is 64 TB.
The NetBackup Deduplication Guide explains under this topic : Resizing the MSDP storage partition how to increase pool size.
In short - stop NBU on media server, use Array and OS tools to increase disk size, start NBU, then Inventory the disk pool in the GUI.
MSDP cleanup runs every 12 hours.
You can read in the same manual under this topic: Managing Media Server Deduplication Pools about
Deleting backup images and About the MSDP data removal process.
There is another process called 'rebashing'.
Storage is only reclaimed during this process.
See: About MSDP storage rebasing

Well, answer depend on:
Your NBU version.
OS on your media server.
Current size of the MSDP pool.
Always best to mention or select the OS and NBU version as max MSDP pool size is different for Windows and Unix/Linux and have changed across NBU versions.
MSDP technology (e.g. cleanup) has also changed across NBU versions.
As far as expiration is concerned - you may not be able to free up much space by expiring backups, as other backups may still depend on data in the image that you expire.
