The best way is to use DLO option for this kind of configuration, you can check more with the DLO admin guide if you want to configure it. It has got different license and totally a different conecept to protect your desktop and laptops.

hi ,

i think its do consider.. but i am not sure..

you can check if that is included or not by using the nbdeployutil capacity based report..

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO72905

may be that report could help you to understand..

in the report, see if it is showing the total counts by including the desktops and laptops..

in addition to this as Sazz suggest. you can check DLO option.

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/whitepaper-netbackup-desktop-laptop-option

hope this helps..

Franly speaking NetBackup shouldn't be positioned for such environment.

It's NetBackup an enterprise suite to protect your heterogeneous server farm. DLO is best to address backup solution on endpoit level not server farm ;)

DLO is coming up with same DeDupe functionality so get in sync with your account manager for further info

BTW precise answer to your query is, capacity model only looks for data size protect, irrespective if NBU client is protecting data from server or endpoint (choice is yours)

End user can backup their own data by means of user schedule we define in policy (allowing user to execute backups manually) just ensure endpoint gets connected to master and vice versa and have sufficient bandwidth to stream data

You can try with WAN resilient + DeDupe + Accelerator  This should minimize need to streaming data multiple times. More over WAN resilieny can handle flucuation in wan network

Hope this helps
