Direct backup(storage array->media server->tapes) possibility

Hi,

Do we have a direct backup solution from storage array to tapes via media-server?  Especially for vSphere backup we need to move the data directly from storage to tapes and not through the esx host.

This is possible by configuring proxy(VMware Backup Host) on media server or SAN media server, and use SAN Transport. Using SAN transer, VMware Backup Host read data from datastore directly.

To use SAN transfer, datastore on SAN must be presented to both ESX hosts and VMware Backup Host.
