Hello Experts,

We had to take some critical flat file backup on basic disk storage (Inside Two Drives f:/ &  g:/ on master server Win 2008)  for 2 months retention period as our library is down.Pls let me know what is the best way to take this backup on tapes so that restoration would be smooth.

Thanks & Regards,

if you would like to go with the same retenction on the tapes as well..

configure these basic disk as DSSU(disk stating storage units) and do not specify any schedule for staging yet..

once the libary issue is fixed, select the correct tape stroage unit in disk staging schedule and trigger the manual staging from the basic disk.

you can trigger staging manauly by right click on DSSU.

if you wish to go with different retenction on the tapes.

then you need to tirgger the manaul duplications to the tapes once the  tape library issue is resolved or configure vault to do that..

... or you could just duplicate the images taken on the tmp disk using bpduplicate command

"best way to take this backup on tapes"

as you said tape library is down, you can not take the backup to tapes..

or are you triyng to say best way to take backups on disk?

if yes, what is Drive F:/ and G:/ are they two configured as two basic disks?

does your basic disk have enough space to have the backups of your critical files, to keep it for 2 months?

i am still not sure, what suggestions you are looking for, expline in detail please..

if you have enough space in you can surely take backups on basic disk..

Hi Ramnagalla,

This is the temporary space allocated for time being till the time library issue gets fixed.

F and g are two lun space attached to OS and yes we have enaough space.

Now backup is done on disk space. Once we would have our library up. How would we take the backup

of this temporary space?
