Hi All,

I would like to know if my Master server need to communicate with all VM clients ? Or i can have a my Media servers(NBU appliances) act as Backup host to bridge the gap ?

How it works ? I have been hearing mixed answers but would like to know how it works.

NBU Version 8

Thanks,

Nayab

Supported media server (Linux/Windows) can be the VMware backup host.

All explained in NetBackup for VMware Administrator's Guide

Hi

Master only needs to communicate with a VM if you want to

  1. Perform and agent backup using the client installed in the guest
  2. Perform an application aware VMware type backup
  3. Perform a restore of an agent  backup to the guest
  4. Perform a restore of a file to the guest

So in this case even though i have a backup host i must have my MASTER SERVER communicating with my CLIENT as i have installed AGENT on it (This SQL running on RDM ), Right ?
