Hi All,

We had a tape drive changed last week and i can see the replaced tape drive status showing "Retrieving" and i see from the device host coloumn showing my master server ( MASB2 ) which is a passive one now my active server is ( MASB1 ). What i need to do now to make the new drive available to other server which has paths to it.

Thanks,

Nayab

It is working for me. I have copied the link from within the TN.

You can type the following in Google search (or simply copy & paste):

site:symantec.com  How to update NetBackup for a replaced tape drive without deleting and re-adding the drive

Or:

Have you checked that the OS can see the replaced drive?

What does 'scan' show on the media server?
(/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/scan)
Which 'Unix' on the media server?

If OS can see the device, have you deleted the old drive and added new drive (either using the wizard or manually)? Was NBU device daemon (ltid) restarted after re,oving and re-adding?

Please show us output of:
scan
tpconfig -l
vmoprcmd -d
(all commands in /usr/openv/volmgr/bin)

Thanks for the output files, but you have not answered these questions:

... have you deleted the old drive and added new drive (either using the wizard or manually)? Was NBU device daemon (ltid) restarted after removing and re-adding?

'scan' output shows multipathing for devices. The device wizard should be used to config multi-pathed robots and drives.

None of the output files shows a 'retrieving' status for any of the drives.

Three drives are down.
Have you done any troubleshooting to find the reason for this?

Which drive was replaced?

I agree with Marianne, which drive is in question in this case or which one you have eplaced? You can take that perticular tape drive down using vmoprcmd -down <index>

try tpautoconf -replace_drive drive_name -path drive_p

If it's SSO you might have to restart your ltid in some cases. after correcting the new drive path/serial number.

You can also try vmoprcd -reset <index>

vmoprcmd -up <index>

Khajan.
