Hi, One of my drive path is getting down periodically on every Monday and Friday at 9:30 AM. Can you any one help? Here is the message in /var/adm/messages.
May 3 09:30:18 wybks01 ltid[1157]: [ID 434987 daemon.error] Operator/EMM server has DOWN'ed drive HP.ULTRIUM4-SCSI.000 (device 0)

We just a realized that there is program on remote server which is bringing down the drive on netbackup server on periodic basis. That is causing the drive down. Thank you all for your help though

If EMM has down'd the drive there will be a good reason for it - tape stuck 3 read / write failures - needs cleaning etc.
Odd that it always happens at the same times so it begs the question what else happens at that time? tape changing? some script somewhere doing something?
Is the Media server Unix or Windows? If window it will tell you exactly what is wrong in the Windows event logs for the server

Mark makes some good point.
If this is windows, you can also run through this :

Hopefully you have bptm log folder under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs?
If not, please create the directory.
We need to see the log file in the bptm log folder. Next time the drive is down'ed, copy the bptm log file to bptm.txt and post as File attachment.
In the meantime, please post /usr/openv/netbackup/db/media/error file. (copy to error.txt and upload as File attachment).
I would like to see full messages file as well, please. Copy to messages.txt and post as File attachment.

Attached is message files. Will post error and bptm logs in the evening

There is nothing more in messages than the error you showed us previously.
It simply seems like a case of DRIVE_ERROR_THRESHOLD that is applied as per http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH9748
You will need bptm log as well as error file.

Attached are errors and bptm log. There is no update to errors file as such. bptm log attached for the date May 3rd Friday on which the drive went down.

How many media servers do you have?
We need logs from the media server where the drive was downed.
Neither of the 2 logs contain any errors.
The only other logical explanation is that someone has right-clicked on the drive and DOWN'ed it.

We have only one netbackup server that is acting both as master server and media server. No one is manaully turning down the drive. There is no cron job either that is running at 9:30 AM Monday and Friday

Please also check bptm log for 2 May.
If the backup started before midnight, it is possible that logging continued in the log file for 2 May and not go over to log file for 3 May.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to give the solution to Mark, he was the first to suggest something else, like a script was running at that time.
