hi

0 8 1 0   500000024811 T9840C    /dev/rmt/5cbn  --correct config
0 8 1 3   1310233768 IBM-LTO4    /dev/rmt/0cbn  -->wrong config
0 8 1 4    500000023972 T9840C    /dev/rmt/3cbn  correct config
0 8 1 8    1210302443 IBM-LTO-3   /dev/rmt/6cbn  correct config.

0 8 1 3 i serail number is not matching with tpconfig and tpautoconf -t , so you need to check  what is the Index ID for the seraril number which is showing in tpautoconf -t (i.e 1210196623) and configure update it.
you can make use of below command in ACSLS to identify the Drive address for the serail no 1210196623

drive * -f serial_num type

 you will get the EC 98 and down Drive when netbackup is trying to use the Drive IBM.ULTRIUM-TD3.000.so make the Drive down untill you fix the issue..

comming to other Drives, Did you find the any error log for those?

hi

what is the command that you are using to add the Drives?

please provide the output of /usr/openv/volmgr/scan

does it the new media server coinfig?

did you add the Robot?

output of tpconfig -d

tpautoconf -t

In addition to 'scan' output, also logon to ACSLS server and show us output from 'ACSSA> prompt' of the following:
display drive *,*,*,* -f type serial_num

PS: Are you aware of the fact that NBU 6.5 reached EOSL on 3 Oct 2012?

@Nagalla

I am trying to add the drives through GUI.

 tpconfig -d
Id  DriveName           Type   Residence
      Drive Path                                                       Status
****************************************************************************
0   A00_LI001_LS8_D04_T9 hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=4
      /dev/rmt/3cbn                                                    DOWN
1   STK.T9840C.000       hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=0
      /dev/rmt/5cbn                                                    DOWN
2   IBM.ULTRIUM-TD3.000  hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=3
      /dev/rmt/0cbn                                                    UP
3   IBM.ULTRIUM-TD3.001  hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=8
      /dev/rmt/6cbn                                                    UP

Currently defined robotics are:
  ACS(0)     ACSLS server = aacsls01.aldc.att.com

EMM Server = asprd212.aldc.att.com

 tpautoconf -t
TPAC60 STK     T9840C          1.43 500000023972 -1 -1 -1 -1 /dev/rmt/3cbn - -
TPAC60 STK     T9840C          1.43 500000024811 -1 -1 -1 -1 /dev/rmt/5cbn - -
TPAC60 IBM     ULTRIUM-TD3     93G0 1210196623 -1 -1 -1 -1 /dev/rmt/0cbn - -
TPAC60 IBM     ULTRIUM-TD3     93G0 1210302443 -1 -1 -1 -1 /dev/rmt/6cbn - -

@Marianne

We are in process of upgrading the servers,by the end of January it is expected.

For the command which you have asked,seems its not running.

hi,

you have 4 drives avaliable in tpautocont and 4 drives are already configured.. do it suppose to have more drives? and those are not listing?

if yes... did  you make sure that they are connected in OS level?

 are you trying to add the drive from

GUI-->storage configuration Wizard

or

 from the GUI-->Devices--->Drives--->new Tape Drive... ?

recommended way to conifgure it is GUI-->storage configuration Wizard ..

I am doing it through GUI-->storage configuration Wizard ..and also drives goes down frequently..

In all we have 4 drives on this server,these have  been added.I posted the reply since was facing issues with these drives which go down frequently and therefore i tried to delete and add them but didnt solve the purpose:(

Also,drives were added by one of my colleauges so no idea how did he go about it i.e through CLI or GUI.

Basically now i am back to the same problem i.e drives down

Shekaib,

lets do this..

i understand that you have  ACSLS server = aacsls01.aldc.att.com

for this media server you have 4 drives..serial no as below.

500000023972

500000024811

1210196623

1210302443

_______________

i suspect , these 4 serail numbers are not belogs to  same ACS(i.e ACS 0)

lets confirm this by below steps first.

login to the ACSLS server aacsls01.aldc.att.com

#su – acsss

Cmd_proc –lq

drive * -f serial_num type   ->this will list all Drive serial no.

(enable Putty log save the output in notepad and then look for the above 4 serial number., along with the serail number you can make a note of the Drive index ids fom the output.)

----------------

then

form the tpconfig -d output .. collect the Drive index ids.

i.e

A00_LI001_LS8_D04_T9 hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=4

STK.T9840C.000       hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=0

IBM.ULTRIUM-TD3.000  hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=3

IBM.ULTRIUM-TD3.001  hcart  ACS(0)  ACS=0, LSM=8, PANEL=1, DRIVE=8

run the below commands in ACSLS server  and collect the output.

display drive 0,8,1,4 -f serial_num

display drive 0,8,1,0 -f serial_num

display drive 0,8,1,3 -f serial_num

display drive 0,8,1,8 -f serial_num

q dr 0,8,1,4

q dr 0,8,1,0

q dr 0,8,1.3

q dr 0,8,1,8

now check if you are able to find the 4 above serial number in ACSLS server, if you dont find, that confirms that those unfind seraial number drives are not belongs to that ACSLS server., and you need to update the configurations..

let us know the output.

Were any of the drives replaced and you are now trying to re-config?

Shekaib

Seems one the drives which was showing mis config was due to some issues in EMM database.

Tried to refresh it and it gave the correct drive number..

Best to first delete incorrect drive(s), followed by restart of NBU (ensure acs daemons are also restarted), then re-add drive(s).
