Looks like the LTO1/2 tape cant be read. There are a lot of potential reasons for that so please give us some more info:

1) What kind of drive is reading the tape?

2) Have you tried to use other drives?

3) Can you restore a file from this tape(s)?

4) Are you getting this problem on one tape or many different ones?

5) Is there any encryption used on the source tape or on the tape drive reading it?

6) Please check and post OS and Netbackup logs (esp. bptm) for more detailed error messages at the time of copy

1) What kind of drive is reading the tape? LTO3

2) Have you tried to use other drives? Yes

3) Can you restore a file from this tape(s)? Not tried

4) Are you getting this problem on one tape or many different ones? Many tapes

5) Is there any encryption used on the source tape or on the tape drive reading it? yes we are using, it reads lot of tapes fine but then shows error on many other tapes.

6) Please check and post OS and Netbackup logs (esp. bptm) for more detailed error messages at the time of copy- let me check that.

5) Is there any encryption used ...?
yes we are using,

Do you know what kind of encryprion?
LTO1/2 did not have KMS/hardware encryption.
If Client encryption, you will need the encryption key for each client on the media server reading and writing the images.
