E-Vault Index backup failed

Hi Folks

Enterprise Vault Index full backup failed with SC 2. The EV db and Open partition backups are successfull.

Nbu master server 7.6.0.2 and Ev Nbu version is 7.5.0.5

Attached the bpresolver and bpbkar logs with this.

This repeated Ev index failure has been fixed after upgrading the Ev Netbackup agent to 7.6.0.2 and rebooted the EV server.

I could find below two events for E vault

Disabling additions, deletions, and updates because the index location is in backup mode. 

Index Location: \\evapp\i$\EvIndex1\Location3 

Status: Success  (0)

Try and put the index locations into backup mode manually. Once you know that works retry backup.

Tried backup post restarting the vault indexing services and backups are completed successfully. I could see all index locations are going to backup mode when netbackup initiate the job. After that full backup, the consecutive incremental backups were successfull.But again the last full backup of index locations failed yesterday with same error.

Sounds like its more an EV issue then NBU one.

We are having intermittent issues and EV tech says it's NBU and NBU tech says no trouble here, must be EV. sad

 

Deleting  EVbackup.xml  file on the client and restarting EV services seems to help ... for a while.

The fact the restart of the EV services resolved the EV exception error listed above would lead me to believe its EV, and not NBU. If SQL is in a messed up state we could not back it up either. Same logic applies here.

what is the version of enterprise vault?

good question ... from his resolver log

Installed EV version is : <9.0.2.1061>.

 

and he is running

Nbu master server 7.6.0.2 and Ev Nbu version is 7.5.0.5

We are running EV 10.0.2 and 11.x is available now so we should be thinking of upgrading but these things come slowly.

 

NBU update to 7.6.0.3 did not help with intermittent issue on this end.

11 isn't supported yet by NBU yet indecision

Ajith, have you considered upgrading NetBackup and EV software?  

(though obviously not to v11 yet)

We had a plan to upgrade to ev 11 but future version nbu 7.6.0.4 will only support this. The other ev version which is supported is 10 but as per our ev admin version 11 have many features comparing with 10.

Otherwise i have to prepare a shell script backup instead of using ev agent. Not sure how do i prepare it and what would be the selections in the policy for taking all data in the ev.
