End of Tape

Hi,
a) Is it possible to identify the end of tape in NetBackup?

b) Can we get the size of the tape (as in how much data it can hold) in NetBackup?

To rephrase it, does NetBackup check the size of tape before it writes a backup on it? For example, if the size of data is 200GB and the number of tapes I have in the device is 2, each worth 50 GB, after writing to the 1st tape, NB will use the 2nd tape. Lets assume that the above backed up 100GB data.

Does NB know at the beginning of the backup itself that it can sustain only 100GB?

Thanks,
Ambica

In NB you can only check how many data is backed up to full tape.. tape capacity = native capacity without compression.. If you enable hardware compression you can't calculate exact total capacity... it depend's on type of backed up data, compression ratio etc.

If you have two tapes in robot library and one retention period and one backup server, netbackup will use second tape after first will be full. When drive reaches end of tape netbackup gets this information and marks that tape is full (in database).
