Error 1719 Windows Installer service when installing client

GHas

I get the following error message when installing NBU 6.5 client on a Windows server:

"Error 1719 Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur it the Windows Installer

is not correctly installed"

- The Windows server is running Server 2008 R2

- One check was to be sure that the Windows Installer is running - and it was

- Rebooting the server did not change anything either

- Suggestions anyone?

W2008 R2 is not supported with NBU 6.5. Only as from 6.5.5. There was a special full 6.5.5 download for W2008 R2, but no idea if that is still available as all NBU 6.x versions ran out of support in 2012. Please upgrade your environment to NBU 7.x (preferably to 7.6 or 7.6.1) that offers full support for W2008.

Seems to be a very popular issue accross many different installers.

Same as this OPSC one?

Solution seems to be to disable Windows update KB2670838, restart, then attempt re-install.
