After ugrade netBackup 7.1.0.3 to 7.5 i recieve many error. Example:

the backup failed to back up the requested files(6)

Later automatic restart job, success backed up transaction log. BUT: if i try restore database from full backup and trx.backup - i recieve error on last log restoring.

I open case in technical support Symantec, 1 week ago. Support suggest increase connection time out. I increase, but errors stay. These errors 6-7% from total backups.

is this a Oracle or SQL Backup?

The above errors has NOTHING to do with timeouts.

The bptm errors are seen within 12 seconds of the backups starting.
Critical bptm(pid=4196) attempted to write 0 gigabytes, 483031 bytes, it is not a multiple of 512

Please post bptm log on media server as attachment.

Please let us know OS on media server and which tape drivers are being used.

Please also show us policy config - I don't understand how bpbkar is involved in the database agent backup unless you are doing offhost snapshot backups. On master:
bppllist <policy-name> -L

OS on media - win 2003 R2 sp2 x86

How to look tape drivers are being used.? In device manager? Hewled Packard LTO Ultrium-4 drive version 1.0.6.3 date 07.10.2010

I use HP VLS 9200.

are these the bptm logs for the media server that perform these backups?

There is nothing in the log for 23 March at 10:09:

I have only 1 media server. May be need log from master?

Hi,

Error Code: 6 - This error code occurs for database backups.

1. Occurs when the backup is failed to backup files in the selection list.

2. When Multistreaming is enabled, If any Default-Application-Backup is failed - Main Stream of the Backup will fail with Error code: 6.

Here the a backup stream is failed with Error Code:174, So the main backup failed you gor Error Code: 6

The failing backups go to this storage unit : NBUCL-hcart-robot-tld-4

So we need the logs from that server - bptm and bpbrm if available

Also check the state of the drives used by that storage unit as there are quite a few messages in the logs that indicate several drives may have issues

Hosts exmb2, excl - this is old exchange. In console i no see this clients. This name not used 2 year,  dns no have this name. /etc/hosts in master or media no have this host name.

This log only covers one hour - when the job worked - it does not cover 10:09 when it failed

Is it the only one you have?

I take it that this has happened regularly as you first post is todays date but you say you have had a call open for a week?

This errors (exited with status 174: media manager - system error occurred) i have permanently:

Please post bptm log again (current version).

The one posted earlier covers up to 15:04:53.

The error posted above was seen at 15:14.

Please take a look at all running jobs to see if there is an older job still running.

The log reports at 15:13 that:

could not find backupid vsqlf79.vsk.ru_1332501200 to terminate

That relates to a backup that ran at 11:13 - so 4 hours earlier

It sounds like there may be orphaned bpbrm processes at play here on the Master Server

It would be useful to have a time when no backups are running and see if you have any bpbrm processes still running

New many error after upgrade from 7.1.0.3 to 7.5.0.1

Sometimes backup log or full MS SQL freeze on different clients.

No firewall on client or master or media.

On sql server i see suspended backup:
