Hi guys,

I am using NBU 7 built in deduplication - through storage lifecycle policy to backup and duplicate the data over from media server A to media server B.

Currently the Master is also the client, which i backup the data from.

The backup was successful, but I have the following errors when the duplication job ran:

What's the architecture?  Windows or UNIX?  7.0 or 7.0.1?

Any interesting errors in the bpdbm log which might help us?

I think you might be experiencing a known issue, but I can't figure out which one it might be.  I'm hoping your answers might help us narrow down our possibles...

Alternately, check out the LBNs and see if anything rings a bell:

7.0 LBN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH126330

7.0.1 LBN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH139092

Hi Zahid,

As i am able to backup the data from Master to MediaA without problem, does it means

that the network from MediaA / Master to MediaB could have some problem ?

if i can do a test to backup file over to the dedupe pool on MediaB does it means there shouldn't be any network problem with the setup ?

Thanks and Regards

May be.

I think you try to check the DNS resolution from both site

I think you should enable the logs so the problem might curb

Hi actually i'm using host file to resolve the naming, but i tried to do a backup the Media Server B's dedupe pool and it ran successfully..

Just that duplication doesn't run... and end up with the code 191.. i even tried patching from : http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH138266

all still seems the same... :( am still waiting for symantec support at the very moment..

i am running on windows 2008 x64, for all the media and master servers, all on 7.0.1.

I notice something strange as well.. the version on my master shows as 7.0 in the host properties but the two media servers are showing as 7.0.1 which are correct.

From the splash screen i can see that the master server is running 7.0.1 as well.. anyone knows why ?

One more thing i would like to add here. If you see the below error which i mentioned is saying the network read failed. I think there might be something regarding the reading, i think the things are not able to read over network but i think there is a connectivity present. See the network regarding something related to read the network but connectivity is established.

Hi Zahid,

Thanks for your input, actually the eed fix was the solution, it was just that my nbu installation had gone haywired in the process where the netbackup server update did not installed properly which caused the eed patch not installed in the first place..

after repairing the nbu master to show 7.0.1 in the host property, i renamed the eed patch folder and reinstall the patch.

now duplicating is working like a charm ! :) Thanks for all your help and advises given !

Regards
