Hey Folks,

I have one of my windows 2K3 client backup is failing with EC 54.

Name resolution is happening fine between master, media and client server.

Even telnet is working good from client to master & media server. Netbackup service is running fine in the client server.

Client server is having only one NIC card.

But the telnet is not working from master & media to client server and immediately gettting closed with below message.

Ex:
# telnet 157.146.172.223 13782
Trying...
Connected to 157.146.172.223.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

Can anybody help me on this to resolve this backup issue plsss?

Do you have bpcd log on client? If not, create it and run bptesbpcd again. Please post contents of bpcd log.
Also check Windows firewall on client.

Is client in a DMZ?
Is Windows Firewall running on the client?
NBU version on client?
NBU version on Master?

Marianne,

I have this same problem but the thread just ends with no further info or resolution that I can see.  The client Windows 2003 server is in a DMZ and there is no firewall running on the client.  The client is running a base 6.5 client (I downgraded from 6.5.4 in trying to resolve this.) and the Master is running 6.5.4 on Sun Solaris.  These backups used to work but recently began ending with the error code 41.
I have confirmed name resolution is working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
