Hi team,
I would like to ask for any help for the error message I am experiencing.
This is for Netbackup 6.5
Server is HPUX 11.23
I am Using a VTL.

I already tried to check and manual mount in the VTL and it is working.
There are no tapes that are stuck.

Use robtest to manually test mount and dismount of media id STK908 into Drive424, Drive425 and Drive426.
These errors are coming from the VTL - NBU is just reporting the errors.
Does each media server have dedicated drives? or sharing drives with SSO?

Hi Marianne,
I already tried to mount and dismount media id STK908 to the Drives, and they where successfully mounted and dismounted.
Each media servers have dedicated drives.

Please check syslog for further investigation.

@Yasuhisa, I already checked syslog and there were no alerts about the tapes.

For SCSI related errors consult /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log
Use /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig to verify HP-UX is configured to monitor tape devices and robots.
Have you checked the debug log on the VTL as well ?

Please also enable NBU logging on media server:
Create bptm folder under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs
Add VERBOSE entry to /usr/openv/volmgr/vm.conf and restart NBU.
Post bptm log and /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log after next failure.
Copy logs to bptm.txt and syslog.txt and post as File attachments.

VTL/ real robots that can correctly mount a tape from the robots own web interface does NOT mean it will be able to mount tapes via robtest.
A failure to mount tapes via robtest, even if the robots web GUI IS mounting tapes, does NOT make it a NetBackup problem.
The path to the library via the interface is totally differnt than how robtest sends requests.
Unless the issue is 100% mechanical, there is no point in comparing the abailaty of robtest to work against the ability of the library interface to work.

@Nicolai - there no debug logs for the and I haven't received any email alerts from it as well.
@Marriane - attached file is the BPTM logs.
Thank you,

@Martin - I tried to mount and unmount tapes using robtest and it was also successful.
Thank you,

Errors in bptm are the same as in Activity Monitor.
We need to syslog after enabling VERBOSE logging in vm.conf.
One more thing - we need to see if the OS is recognizing the tape mount:
Can you check what output of this command looks like on a working system when a tape is loaded in a drive:
mt -f /dev/rmt/..... status
Then load a tape in a drive on this system with robtest, and repeat the 'mt .... status' test.
My guess is that the OS is not seeing the tape mount, thus interpreting the problem as a mount failure.
Let us know.

Thank you for all the help and responses I do appreciate it, however Me and the team decided to discontinue with this activity because we were unable to find a solution.
Thank you,
