Error bptm(pid=7500) error requesting media

Somniumus
Level 3

Using Netbackup 7.1.3.0, clusteres 2-node master server (RedHat Linux) and two media servers (Win 2008 R2). Tape library is a HP MSL8096, 3 drives used.

All backups seem to be going well, except for the CatalogBackup, this results in error status code 2, 252 or 2009. It looks like I'm having problems with one single tape.

I might need some help deassigning this tape and assigning a new tape to the volume pool for catalog backups......

Thanks in advance.

vmquery -m B086L5 -X

Will show you all the info netbackup has on the media - in robot or not etc.

But freeze the tape for now and use other tapes.

FYI:

(You know that you could have stripped off the L5 part of your labels to get even more unique Labels on your media?)

This can be done from NetBackup Barcode Rules in Advanced Options in Inventory Robot Dialog or for the MSL8096 in Command View via the Web Management front end...

EDIT: Do not implement this however if you already have rules. Just for future reference.

Try to use robtest from Robot control host to see if this tape can be mounted manually into Drive000.

Use Device GUI to find drive number in robot for Drive000 and Media GUI to find slot # for B086L5.

See this TN for robtest usage: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH83129

First check that robot control host has access to Drive000, or else you will difficulty to unload the drive.

Please assign more tapes in Catalog pool or else create a Scratch Pool and put all unassigned tapes in Scratch pool.

Seems all drives have been DOWNed as a result of mount failure?
