The only relevant information here is NBU version.
Startup of bpcd and vnetd has changed from 6.5 to 7.0.

Oh dear! I guess you already know that everything in your environment is so old that it is no longer supported by OS vendors or Veritas?
If this is an environment that has been running for a long time, what has changed?

If the NBU version is older than 7.0, then check /etc/inetd.conf.
bpcd and vnetd run as part of inetd on 6.x and earlier and can be seen in 'netstat -a' output.

On your Windows server, check that Windows firewall is turned off.

W2K3, Solaris 9, YaY!

Anyways, check this out, looks relevant https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100020618

Dear All,

I check the port 13724 not find in the  /etc/servies , so I try to reboot the UAT backup server , and check the service again , but still not to start up , next step to check if there is port blocked by FW.

Thank you Mouse and Marianne !

Hi,

Is NBU on Solaris a fresh install? is xinetd or inetd services running?.

You can always try install_bp script under bin dir which will refresh all your installed binaries (if corrupted), but will not change your configurations/data.

The OS not fresh installed but there is system file missing and need to know what happen ,

I fixed the problem right now

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpcd bpcd -standalone
root@devuarbak01 # cd /opt/openv/bin
root@devuarbak01 # ./vnetd -standalone

root@devuarbak01 # netstat -an | grep vnetd
