I need to select daily backup from Mon -Thus. Weekly on fridays & Monthly backup on 1st friday of the month

May be easier to set up the Mon-Thu as a frequency-based schedule with a window open each of these days as appropriate & a frequency adjusted to suit:

e.g. a single schedule with a window of 1800-2300 Mon-Thu and a frequency greater than 5 hours but less than 19 hours

then a calendar based schedule for:

- weekly Friday whatever window suits & 2nd-last Friday under 'Recurring Week Days'

- monthly Friday whatever window suits & 1st Friday under 'Recurring Week Days'

As far as your actual issue is concerned I would be very tempted to create a *new* policy to replace the one you're having issues with. There is always the possibility that it has become 'corrupted' in some way so a new policy may get you away from this (do not copy the existing as the 'corruption' can get copied too).

In the NB4.5 days we had an issue trying to either add or remove selected days from the schedule - Veritas advised us that it was because we either had too many specific dates or were trying to make too many adjustments at once. I cannot remember exactly what the issue was nor the exact solution.

Hi,

I have attached the screen shots. Other than me no one else has a access to it.

I am not good in using the command prompt to schedule the backup.

You have 'Specific Dates' as well as 'Recurring Week Days' selected.

Why is that?

What exactly do you need to do?

Hi,

Usually I dont go & select any days under any category . I only go to calender & tick mark the days. That will reflect in 'Specific dates' & 'Recurring Week Days'

My requirement is

I need to select daily backup from Mon -Thus. Weekly on fridays & Monthly backup on 1st friday of the month

In addition to Andy's excellent post, please remove ALL individual dates. This option is meant for ad-hoc backups, not for everyday backups.

It is possible that there are just too many entries, making the policy database 'fall over'. Seems you have dates from 2006?

You can check the amount of entries for yourself:

bppllist <policy-name> -U

Refer to technote  TECH65993

The solution for this issue is to manually refresh the policy prior to making changes by using the refresh button.
