The NBU OS compatibility list for all versions of Netbackup can be found at :
https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100040093
For 8.x we need to use
The PowerPC platform is supported on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 and later. SLES 11 is not supported on PowerPC platform.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can backup that server as long as it is not supported..
unless you do an OS upgrade to minimum 12

Without upgrading, you have two baic options (which are quite similar).
The first option should be available no matter what version of NetBackup you have or operating system. The second option requires the appropriate media server platform (I think supported since NBU 8.3 but I could be wrong). Recent version of NetBackup also allow you to create policies to create backups (catalogs really) of the contents of the universal share.
Cheers

SUSE 11 is out of support by now, making a idea time to push for the server to be upgraded.
