Hi Folks,
I have a VMwarebackup policy set up.
And out of 40 some Vm's a few failes with the status:
Error opening the snapshot disks using given transport mode: Status 23.
Mediaserver is the same as master server.
Virtual Senter Server is installed on the Masterserver in a VM.
Storage Unit is a VMFS volume.
Policy type is Flashbackup windows.
Perform off-host backup - Vmware backup host.
Options set:
Client name selection - Vm display name
Virtual Machine backup - Mapped Full VM backup
Transport type - nbd
Virtual machine quiesce - enabled
Exclude unused and deleted blocks - enabled
existing snapshot handling - Remove NBU
Monolithic export ( VCB only ) - Disabled
Validation process - No errors.
Backup selection - All logical Drives.
Selecting Clients - I used Browse and Select Virtual Machine.
Any Ideas?

Is there any correlation between the failed VM's? Same datastore, same host? Are the ones that work on the same host as the vCenter VM?

Thanks for replying.
I did a quick check, there are 8 VM that fail and only the same 8 failes.
Environment have 4 esx host and VM are located on 3 of them.
The 4 esx host have their own datastores.
All VMs share same vCenter, all VMs that work ok. Is located on all 4 esx host.
So there are no common relations between the Vm as far as I can see.

Hi Kenneth,
Might be worth logging a call, there is another user on the forum that is also seeing a 23 error. He is using 4.1 (dont know if you're version is the same).
The only other reference i've found to that error is in the adminguide which states that you can get this if you're using hotadd, and then it relates to amount of SCSI cards (bit unclear).
