Error requesting media (98)

Hi Guys,

      I had one of the weirdest situation around I guess. My backup had error requesting media error during a full blown backup (all clients running at the same time and jobs being queued). The weird thing is, not all jobs face the same problem. Some child jobs within the same parents fails with error 98 while some within the same parent job completes with no error. I've checked online for solutions but they were since 2005 and I'm currently using Netbackup 6.5.4 on a windows server 2008 SP2. Appreciate any kind of assistance provided. Thanks

Need some more information to help you here ....

If possible can you post the Admin and bptm log from the Master on here (as attachments)

Can you also tell us how many media servers, tape drives and the general configuration, plus how many free tapes you had in the library at the time

Also if you use multiplexing when writing to tape

it seems to be drives issue.

Kindly try configure the drives on the client.

Or there may media stuck in the drive.

Or just try to reset the drive or replace the drive.
