Hi, I'm implementing a Netbackup Ent. Server 7 over a Windows 2008 R2 Server. The tape library is a MSL 6030 with LTO2 tapes. These tapes have all data writen, because they were used by the previous backup application (Backup Exec 11d). When trying to Quick Erase / Long Erase / Label a tape, I get the following error: 18-05-2010 15:18:30 - begin Label 18-05-2010 15:18:30 - started process bplabel (6868) 18-05-2010 15:18:30 - requesting resource CatalogBackup:A00004 18-05-2010 15:18:30 - granted resource A00004 18-05-2010 15:18:30 - granted resource HP.ULTRIUM2-SCSI.000 18-05-2010 15:18:35 - mounting A00004 18-05-2010 15:19:07 - mounted; mount time: 00:00:32 18-05-2010 15:19:08 - Error bplabel(pid=6868) cannot open E:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\temp\A00004, Access is denied. 18-05-2010 15:19:08 - end Label; elapsed time: 00:00:38 media open error(83) Can someone help??? Thank you.

Check if the tapes are write protected.
Also check if all the MTF overwrite options are selected in the Media tab in Host Properties.

The PBX Secure Mode must be set to false. If Secure Mode is true, NetBackup commands such as bplabel and vmoprcmd will not work. Messages similar to the following appear in /usr/openv/logs for PBX (unified logging originator 103).

5/12/2005 16:32:17.477 [Error] V-103-11 User MINOV\Administrator not authorized to register servers5/12/2005 16:32:17.477 [Error] Unauthorized Server

The PBX security settings can be verified by entering:

install_path\VxPBX\bin\pbxcfg -p

To correct this problem, do the following:

1. Set Secure Mode to false by entering the following:

install_path\VxPBX\bin\pbxcfg -d -m

2. Stop NetBackup:

install_path\NetBackup\bin\bpdown

3. Stop PBX:

Go to Start > Run, enter services.msc, and stop the "VERITAS Private Branch

Exchange" service.

4. Start PBX:

Go to Start > Run, enter services.msc, and start the "VERITAS Private Branch

Exchange" service.

5. Start NetBackup:

install_path\NetBackup\bin\bpup

Hi,

The problem was really with the MTF overwrite options... I had only activated MTF overwrite... I had missed BE-MTF overwrite... selected also this last option, and problem solved.

Thank you all for your help.

I've got the same issue and found that simply remove the write lock from the tape.
