Hopefully our Symantec experts will confirm...

Looking at the Compatibility Guide, it seems only 4.0 is supported.
For versions 5 and 6, the Compatibility Guide says 5.x and 6.x.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x Advanced, Base and Desktop (64-bit, IA64) Supported on all vendor GA updates unless stated otherwise in the tables below. BMR
Client/Boot Server is not supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop (sometimes referred to as Client).

Thanks Marianne... I confirmed with Symantec that we have to use the basic 4.0 release not 4.8 release. After the call I have downloaded the Redhat release 4.0 and tried to create the SRT but getting a error

Can you please let me know if I need to change anything ? Please find more details below...

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76147 You need to edit createsrt.conf under some circumstance, like using DVD or update release media. This technote will provide hint about how do you edit it. This technote is intended for DVD issue, but when you get "missing package" error, you can avoid it by editing package list in createsrt.conf. Check packages inclded in RHEL DVD media, and edit package list in createsrt.conf to fit with DVD contents.

Thanks Yasuhisa for the Trick. It worked for the RHEL 4.8 DVD and I have created SRT for RHEL 4.8. However, I am still getting the same error for the Base RHEL 4.0 with 4 CD's. As per your comment I have to remove the packages which are missing from the createsrt.conf file. If you see my missing packages list they are almost all of them from createsrt.conf and these files are the core files of Operating System. If we remove these then probably OS may not boot. Is there any other trick which can work for this? I really appreciate if you know one. Thank you very much again.

Tarun Konduri.

It looks like you mounted source package CDs.
Use binary package CDs.
