Exchange 2003 Backups

Just got word of a new Exchange 2003 cluster being built at our home office.  Was wondering what needs to be installed on these servers besides the netbackup windows client software to be able to perform backups of the information stores.  We are running 6.0 MP4.

Thanks for your help.

There should be nothing else you will need installed since the exchange server agent will be installed when you install the netbackup client agent. Just make sure you have the licenses to backup exchange server.

That's correct.  The other thing is to make sure you read the admin guide:

NetBackup 6.0 for Microsoft Exchange Server System Admin Guide

It tells you how to configure policy for Exchange backup and many details.

Another option to look into is: EntVault

Our exchange administrator has been using the product for about 5 months now and seems to like the capabilities.  Not too difficult to setup the backups but timing is imparative because processes run under EntVault.  Like I said, something to take a look into.  But for your question: nothing extra needs to be installed outside of the NB client in order to get the backups kickin
