I created an Exchange 2013 DAG policy (NBU 7.6.01) to backup a passive db. The job successfully completed, but when I try to do a restore, I'm getting this msg, "server does not contain any backups for client (dag3) using the specified policy type (MS Exchange Server) as requested by client." "ERROR : client is not validated to perform the requested operation. On the source client, I selected dag3. On the destination client for restores, I selcted the Exchange server. Please help!

Are you logging into the DAG node with the service account and password that is associated with the Exchange admin rights?  (i.e., the one that is used to perform the backups)  I found that this was necessary to perform this type of restore.  Just using your domain admin/user account won't work.

Yes I'm login with an Exchange admin account with full access.

@in037,

Is it a standalone Exchange server or you have seperate front-end server?

It is recommended to restore from one of your CAS server (or master) and select dag as source/destination.

What do you have define as Client in your Policy?

Could you please send the output of the following command:

bppllist <policyname> (where <policyname> is the name of your Policy)

Did you apply all the pre-requisite like NFS installation on client, organization management roles, start netbackup services as domain user ....

If you know how to backup/rstore with 2010, it should be easy with 2013.

As you backup your passive node , did you setup the preferred list ? it is better to backup from active node because you can miss some data during transaction log commit from the backend (SQL server).

Never mind figured out the problem. Changed source client for restores to FQDN & it worked.
