Hi

Can someone claify if Exchange 2016 CU7 or 8 is supported in Netbackup 8.1?

I'm specifically looking for GRT support and the compatibility guide indicates that it is as the end column shows support from 8.0

There is a caveat around the inability to do GRT restores due to an issue with the Mailbox database structure and that a hotfix is needed for this to succeed. However, this should be fixed in 8.1 - can this be confirmed the fix made it into this release?

Also I've just read the release notes for 8.1.1 and in the 'whats new' section it lists support for Exchange 2016 CU7 and 8 - so this would suggest it isn't in fact supported in NBU 8.1

I'm a little confused.....

Yes, CU7 is supported in NetBackup 8.1. If the CL includes CU8 from NetBackup 8.0, then it's supported in 8.1 as well.

The hot fix mentioned for NetBackup 8.0 is included in 8.1. The hot-fix was due to a database schema change in Exchange 2016 CU5 last spring.

There is one issue that we did not find and fix until after 8.1. We cannot reproduce it in-house, but some customers may find many occurrences of a diagnostic dump of some database tables in their log files. For one CU7 customer, this took so much time that GRT browse was unusable. It's fixed in 8.1.1. Refer to EEB 3935104 for NetBackup 8.0 and EEB 3938084 for NetBackup 8.1, "Multiple ExchDbProv: failed check dumps causing slow GRT Browse in nblbc".
