Exchange 2019 on Windows 2019 core servers

So, they (exchange team) like to be on the cutting edge of technology and will start implementing Exchange 2019 running on Windows 2019 core servers next week. Does anyone know when I can deliver a supported Netbackup solution for this bold team?

Officially, you have to wait for the NetBackup 8.2 release.

That said, non-GRT backups and restores may work with existing NetBackup releases. Try a backup, and do a test restore to an RDB.

For GRT, you definitely need changes in NetBackup that are not yet available.

Hi,

Did you have the possibility to test this database backup/restore?
Was it succesful?

Kind regards

Hi We upgraded our test environment from 8.0 to 8.1.2 to have support for Windows 2019 core server as a client. Backup of an IP less DAG from a single Exchange 2019 host worked fine. Restore of a Exchange db also worked. When the Exchange admin completed the environment with a second node in the Exchage cluster, backups kept on working fine but restores failed. The restored db was regarded as corrupted and could not be mounted. We have halted the whole Exchange 2019 roll out plan until late August , hoping that Netbackup 8.2 will be released during the summer and testing can continue.
