Gents,
I'm looking to automate the exchange, archive, enterprise vault backup process as we're about to deploy EV for archiving.
The ops seem to use automated backups which doesn't help the order of things as the drives are all in use throughout the night.
Does anyone else have EV and has successfully integrated/automated the backup archive process?
Aaron.

The main thing to get right with backing up and using EV is to make sure your backup window does not clash with the archiving window
During the backup EV needs to be in backup mode (effectively read only) so you dont want it in that mode until the archiving run has finished
So something like an archiving schedule of 6pm to 2am and then the backup starts at 2.30am
Also make sure that the EV SQL databases are backed up while the EV system is in backup mode so that everything is consistent
You can use the EV agent if you wish but it tends to be slow and if you have advanced client licenses you will find that flashbackup-windows works much better for the EV partitions - and on that point try and keep the EV partitions as physical partitions that are not too big (say 500GB) so that you can use flash-backup effectively
Lots more to it of course but these are some pointers
Hope this helps

Hi Aaron
Yes we have Exchange 2010 and EV 10.
What we do is run the exchange backups at night and vault user mailboxes to EV also during this time.
We then run the EV backups during the morning when tape drives are available and EV has finished its vaulting.
At weekend its every man for himself!
