Exchange backup not connecting

Hello,

For some strange reason the jobs that are set to backup the exchange servers is not connecting.  We are running exchange 2007 in CCR Cluster.  Recently the Passive Nodes were turned off due to a few network issues.

I have created a test policy with these 2 servers to backup a small folder and it seemed to work ok.

Every other backup is working fine, just these 2 exchange servers

Have you also changed the policy to use active node? If you have set always use passive I guess you could get this type of problem.

Another problem could be internal to the Exchange server. If you have shut down the passive nodes, what about log shipping? Is the Exchange instance happy at all in regards to logs? It could very well be that it doesn't start writing because Exch can't figure it out.

You can look in Event logs on the servers, as well as in bpbkar for NBU on the Exch server, in order to perhaps pinpoint the problem.

Thanks for the reply. Just doesnt make sense at all the the backup needs the passive node to be on.

I have played around with the settings under Exchange, and same issue occurs
