Exclude List - the requested operation was partially successful (1)

Hi,

I have some folders in the exclude list from the client added but the backup job for this client finish also with error (failure reading file: D:\Backup\Exchange_Backup.bkf, can't open file: D:\sql\MSSQL\Data\DWSYSTEM.mdf ....).

Exclude list:

D:\Backup\

D:\Backup

D:\sql\MSSQL\Data\

D:\sql\MSSQL\Data

Why finish the job with this error????

Exclude lists are not valid for user backups.

Does the exclude_list relate to the policy being run?

Have you any include_lists that negate the exclude entries?

As a confession I've actually entered values to be excluded in the include window!

Some more questions:

Was this running before or its a new policy?

What do you have in your backup selection?

What is the netbackup version you are using?

This is a scheduled backup and is related to the windows type policy.

I have no any include_list.

It is no values in the include windows.

This is not a new policy ...was always so.

In the backup selection is All_Local_Drives.

We use Netbackup 7, Master and Client.

Other ideas?

this looks like the exchange backup is going to disk and they you take that to tape ( I do the same thing)

Look at the final time stamp on the bkf file - I have a feeling that the backup to disk had not finished by the time you starte the backup to tape.  You might have to adjust your start time for the backup to make sure it is done.

D:\sql\MSSQL\Data\DWSYSTEM.mdf ....).

This is a database file and may have still be active when the backup tried to get it.

Do you do anything special for the SQL backups?  Like use the sql agent, or have the databases taken down before you backup?  Could again be that the backup to disk or script to stop the database had not finished when the backup ran.
