Exclude list clarification

JeanB
Level 4

I have the following exclude_list and include_list, yet /usr,  /tmp, /var/tmp, /var/lib/mysql, /dev and core files were backed up in their entirety.  /sys and  /gluster_volume were excluded (as desired)   Should I end directories with /?  File selection for this full backup is /

exclude_list:

core
/proc
/media
/mnt
/usr
/sys
/tmp
/var/tmp
/dev
/sys
/proc
/gluster_volume/
/var/lib/mysql
/var/www/html/repo/iso

include_list:

/boot
/mnt/gv0
/usr/local
/usr/openv

OK got it.  For those who care to know, all the exclude_list lines ended with a blank character, which is not good.

You shouldn't have to end it with /
"If the pattern does not end in / (for example, /usr/test), NetBackup excludes both files and directories with that path name"
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO33489#v41534009

Is there a more specific exclude already on the client?

"For a given backup, NetBackup uses a single exclude list - the list that contains the most specific name. "

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO33491#v41534067

There are no other exclude lists on this client:

Here is the bpbkar log on the client:

What version of NB is the client running?
Do you see anything in the bpbkar log about the client ignoring the exclude list? (Was a 7.0-7.1.0.1 issue about this though I cannot image why it would work for one entry and not the rest.)

Master and client are both running 7.5.0.7 on linux RHEL 6

What you see is the log, until it starts writing to tape and I abort the backup, so it should have, by that time, decided what files to backup.

Ah, good work! I've seen that before but it did not spring to mind because the list posted in the forum did not have them.
