Hi,
We are using Netbackup 7.5 with netbackup server supported by and IBM tape library.
We have backup a solaris client and the data in the tape expires eg: 1 April 2014, is it possible to extend the expiry date? How to go about it if possible?
Thanks in advance.

Hi YC,
Yes, you can extend change or extend the expiration date by running bpexpidate command. Please see link below regarding "How to change expiration date of an image"

I do hope this will help.

Yes You can..
bpexpdate comes to your rescue. You can increase the retention based on a specific date or a retention level as per ur master's config.
here is an example from the Netbackup commands guide:
Example 1: Recalculate the expiration date of backup ID 1234 to the date 10/31/2015.
# bpexpdate -recalculate -backupid 1234 -d 10/31/15
Example 2 - Recalculate the expiration date of backup ID 1234 based on a retention level. The new retention level is 4 which is two months (default value). Backup ID 1234 is now scheduled to expire in 2 months.
# bpexpdate -recalculate -backupid 1234 -ret 4

Hi,
What is backupid? Is it media ID?
Note that the backup to the media has been completed already.

No, the backup id is the id of an individual client backup image.
You can get that when you run 'Images on Media' report.
You can specify the media id instead with '-m <media-id>'.
Have you had a look yet at the TN in Adonis's post?
It contains this example where media id is used:
To change the expiration for a specific volume and all of the images on that volume, use:
Example: bpexpdate -m AND001 -d 09/21/03 18:00:00

OK, now I understand with your clarification. Initially, I thought the example "AND001" is volume name.
Thanks.
