Expoting backup ID

Client : xxxxxxxxx.domain.com

Above client belongs to a filesystem policy : FS_UNIX_90days  ; backup selection : ALL_LOCAL_DRIVE.

Client is already backed up to PD appliance with retention period of 90 days.

My question :

Now I want to expire data bieng backed up only for below mount points(path).

/oramiscdsafasd/exporgdft/DEV29/
/oramiscsaddas/exportgdf/DEV31/
/oramisasdc/expofdgdrtfgd/DEV32/
/oramisasdgfc/exgfdportf/DEV33/
/oramisvcxc/expogfdrt1/DEV34/  

Is there any way to export backup ID's of corresponding backup images contains backup of above mount points(path) and to expire it ????????????

Please lemme know steps required to perform this from both GUI and commanad line interfaces.

No - it cannot be done

If the mountpoint is in a backup id all on it's own, then yes, you could just expire the backupid.

If the mountpoint is only part of the backup, then you can not just remove it.

The only thing you could do, is restore the backup to an altaernate location, then back it up again, but without the parts you want to expire, then expire the original image.

Nope montpoints are not part of backup ID's.

Please lemme know is there any other way.

No, it cannot be done.

NBU knows the backupid contains the data ...

All of this is in the backupid <clientname_ctime>

There is no way to expire just /oramiscdsafasd/exporgdft/DEV29/

to leave only,

The NBU command to expire data is bpexpdate, there is no way to expire individual files.

I just use bpmedialist -idonly -hoursago <value> combined with bpmedialist -U -hoursago <value>

sounds similar to NBU search litigation hold (but inverse way ;-))

haven't heard sort of things to expire perticular piece within BACKUP SET (exceptional cases with multiple streams that too, limited)

You can follow martin's initial post to restore it and back it up again simple (during backup just shorten the retention period if required)

you cannot break this single backup image entity. though it is made of small chunks but still it's out of box. (May be add up idea, not sure if is justifiable to remove contents from backup piece)
