Only disk storage is

Only disk storage is supported on VM media servers.

See Statement of Support for NetBackup 7.x in a Virtual Environment:    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127089

We often see users on this forum who have actually managed to configure tape libraries on VMs, but then open posts here because they cannot get it to work.
It's a VMware support issue, not NBU....

Possible, yes. Good idea, as Marianne pointed out, absolutely not! We had pressure a while back to make this work, and we had nothing but inconsistent results. Can it work, sure, but I wouldn't run it in a production environment.
