Hi,

My master is in windows and media server is RHEL 6.3. I am trying to install FT media server.

./nbftsrv_config -nbhba executes successfully, but when try the command ./nbhba -l, i am getting following output.

0 ports recognized; 0 target mode ports; mode : driver in nbhba mode
Error #227: no entity was found

Not sure what went wrong here.

From OS level, i can see HBA card.

Media server has 2 Qlogic card and 1 emulex card.

Please assist

Some things to check

First verify the HBA you intend to use are listed in the hardware compatibility list:

https://download.veritas.com/resources/content/live/SFDC/41000/000040791/en_US/nbu_76_hcl.html?__gda__=1450203356_e8a472154e474a5bb4ed12b98ef8feb1#fibre_transport_media_server_hbas-fibre_transport_media_server_-_vendor_compatibility

  • Then re-read the installation guide again - its not the best guide out there. I mayself made a couple of errors before I got it working.
  •  did the module load correctly (lsmod will tell) ?
  • Monitoring tools - e.g HP Insight Agents can prevent the nbftsrv_config -nbhba from unloading the fibrechannel driver.

Thanks for your response. But the link that you have provided is not relevant to the issue what i have...

I am not able to see any ports when i execute the command ./nbhba -l or ./nbhba -L

Yes Nicolai, you are correct. The card is not supported. We have 2000 series which is not lisited in HCL... 2400 & 2500 series are supported as per HCL.. Thanks for your input..
