FW: Backup Failed on serverxxx with status 57

I am a new administrator and am attempting to learn how to resolve some of the errors that I see on a daily basis, can anyone direct me to a fix for the issue outlined below?

 

1/23/2009 11:10:17 PM - started process bpbrm (4216)
1/23/2009 11:10:17 PM - connecting
1/23/2009 11:10:47 PM - Error bpbrm(pid=4216) connection refused to host serverxxx
1/23/2009 11:10:48 PM - end writing
client connection refused(57)
1/23/2009 11:10:48 PM - Error bpsched(pid=4612) suspending further backup attempts for client serverxxx, policy R2_File_SDM, schedule Incremental_Daily because it has exceeded the configured number of tries
1/23/2009 11:10:49 PM - Error bpsched(pid=4612) backup of client serverxxx exited with status 57 (client connection refused)

this is your error.

 

you need to test that you can connect to the client from the master.

 

on the client open the BAR and verify that your master and or media servers are list in the server list.

 

see if you can open up client properties from the gui.

 

This is the first thing I would look at.

check you solve DNS by name and IP from the master and client side, try the command bpclntcmd -ip, -hn, -self from the client side and see how it came up, normaly this errors are because there is a communication issue, also test all this with your media server if there is one, for more deep troubleshoot follow the Netbackup Troubleshooting guide, go to the network troubleshoot chapter is very straight forward.
