Failing Catalog Backup with RC=144 and other Symptoms

NetBackup 8.1.1

Linux O/S Rel 6

Catalog Backup on this master fails with RC=144 & media servers can't connect to the master. Port 3652 fails to connect from any media server. Web Service will not start on the master.

Solution to my current problem: A security scan by our security team found that /u01/app/openv/java/jre/lib/rt.jar was a vulnerability and the decision was made to rename it to /u01/app/openv/java/jre/lib/rt.jar.txt so it would pass the next security scan. Netbackup started refusing client and media server connections and would also fail with an RC=26 when the nbcertcmd was used to get the certificate info locally to the master. The file was put back to it's correct name of /u01/app/openv/java/jre/lib/rt.jar, Netbackup and PBX was stopped, cleared, and restarted. Catalog backup ran successfully, media servers and client hosts connected normally and backups are running successfully once again.

Thought I'd share this problem and the solution to this issue in case any of you run across this specific problem.

Thanks,
Dennis

Seems like you encountered the issue documented in the below article with a problem with the jre version

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100042253

You could try updating the jre version and see if that in turn helps you out with a clean report from the vulnerability scanner and also allowing nbu to run smoothly..
