Hi,

We have the EMC NAS and we are taking the CIFS share as a map drive in master server with PA Enable

every day we configured the full backup but due to that backup window is the high(23 TB data 22 hrs)

If we can configure the daily Diffrential backup with PA  and weekly full backup with PA enable can i get any backup window deduction.

please help on the same.

hi, suchit I think if you configure daily accelerator incremental backup, when you run the next accelerator full backup, the backup time should be less than 22hrs. In addition, remember to configure a full schedule with the "Accelerator force rescan" option, or after first accelerator full backup, each subsequent accelerator full backup will do forcerescan backup, which will increase the backup time. Thanks

Hi,

By performance accelerator I assume you refer to the NetBackup Accelerator. If so, then yes you can, but you'll need the data optimization license. I would also not run a diff as in my experience the optimization rates are bad unless you run a full.

what do you mean by PA Enable? does it acceletor enabled?

if yes, even with the acceletor enabled does it taking 22 hours for full backup?

what is the file change ratio?

what it the time taken for first acceletor full backup?

what is the netbackup verions?

Not sure what exactly 'performance accelerator' is.

We can tell you how to configure NetBackup accelerator with CIFS/NFS shares on the NAS.

On Windows media server, you need to use UNC path to CIFS shares in Backup Selection. Also change NBU logon account on Windows server to a domain user with sufficient rights on the share.  Select 'Backup Network drives' in policy attributes and 'Use Accelerator'.

yes PA means acceletor only

for first backup with acceletor it is took 15 days to complete the backup after that it will taken 22 hrs for completed full backup with acceletor.

file rate change is 30 to 40 GB ,netbackup version 7.6.0.2

Have you tried using NDMP for this backup instead of accelerator. I've had customers where the NDMP backup out performed the CIFS mount method.
