I want to backup a server with flashbackup-windows, and I must be able to do single-file-restores.
I have read some of the Snapshot Client Admin Guide, and a single-file-restore ist possible.
The backup runs fine. But in the BAR I can´t browse the partitions. I opened the Restore-Window for normal backups and for raw partition backups.
I can see the backup in the timeline and in the All-Folder-Window, but I can´t browse.
What´s my mistake or my missunderstanding?

I knew it rang a bell - cannot see any tech notes out there but remembered this thread :
Solved by upgrading to 7.6.0.1
It sounds to be an issue if the volume you are backing up is dynamic
Hope this helps!

In the BAR GUI change the type using Actions - Select Restore Type - Normal Backups

DOCUMENTATION: How to perform individual file and raw partition restores with Flashbackup-Windows backups with NetBackup

Single file restore may not work for some files for Physical FlashBackup or NetBackup VMware Backup with NetBackup 7.1.0.2 on Windows
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH170806
You are on 7.1.0.3 but if the flashbackup are older they may be impacted.

I think I do it like it is discribed in the technote. Plz look at my jpg.

Does that expand out to show the files?

Go to File -> Specify Netbackup Maschines and Policy Types -> Select Policy Type for Restore to "Flashbackup".
Close the current restore window open new up and set option according to the screen dump you showed us.
Update:
As Mark as mentioned - it must be "Flasbackup-Windows".

Nicolai is right.
You should experiment with that. The big drawback is the time needed for recovery when you have a large partition (5TB 8 hours or so). If possible keep the snapshots for instant recovery. If your underlying storage can take hardware snapshots. Depending on the needed retention time I'd do as few full backups as possible, once a quarter or less, and incrementals for the rest. Maybe even a full per year and quarterly or monthly cumulatives.

Mark - there is no file-list - the plus in the left side doesn´t work.
Nicolai - it doesn´t work:
server does not contain any backups for client ... using the specified policy type (FlashBackp) ....

server does not contain any backups for client ... using the specified policy type (FlashBackp) ....
Please show us the policy for this client? (bppllist <policy-name> -U)
And screenshot of successful backup in Activity Monitor for this client?

As it shows an E drive it must be a FlashBackup-Windows policy, not a FlashBackup policy - you did select that originally didn't you?
#edit# as Marianne says - we do need to know it actually backed some stuff up too
The policy output would be useful as well:
bppllist policyname -U
Thanks

Change the policy type in the file menu and you should see files for the restore. You could check with bpimagelist if there are images of the right type. How large is your "E:"?

Hi Dirk,
looks good.
Could you restore something now?
Stefan

So are you doing inline copy with the backup?
I see the same thing backed up to two different tapes.
In case it is a bug could you try doing just one backup and see if you can browse it then

Mark,
thanks for your last posting. I have tested it in my test-environment with NBU 7.6.0.1, and I can browse info the flashbackup-windows-backup with BAR-GUI. So it´s a problem with 7.1.0.4 :(
@all: thanks for all your postings
Regards
Dirk
