Why the tape get frozen automatically? The netbackup tried automated backup last night but the backup failed due to frozen tape. The tape the backup is trying to written to, it was in forzen state. I did not make it forzen manually. Why the tape get frozen automatically?

NetBackup will automatically freeze tapes that have errors. What kind of error? see this technote to find out.

Hi experts,

Can you tell me whether my drive is defective or not? What this error log means.

If you are seeing multiple tapes become frozen over a period of time, your drive is probably bad.  If you have a library with a large number of frozen tapes your drive is probably bad.

If you have a standalone drive, try another tape, maybe a new one and see what happens.

It's kind of hard to tell since you have been posting other threads concerning the tape drive and library assignments and mapping.

If you have incorrect mapped drives and SCSI resets are occurring on the wrong drives due to the bad configuration then you will be getting frozen tapes.
