Hi

Page file is not backed up. There are some other files that are not backed up . for example Snapshot cache files (both VSP and VSS)

Check this key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup

Have you checked your logs? Netbackup will tell you when it skips files and why.

Have you taken file slack into account ? Size on disk and size of file is not necessary the same.

Let say we have a cluster size of 4K and you store a 13K file, then Windows will need to allocate/use 16K to contain the file, but Netbackup will only read 13K.

@Nicolai, It's not just a difference in KB, he's got a large difference in number of actual files.

I just hadn't a comment on the number of files.

Running a report for "All Log Entries" provides no additional information.

Could it be the missing data is on a DFSR file system?

If so, it could be related to this:

"FilesNotBackedUp" Reg Key contains a lot of locations that are excluded such as %TEMP%\*, %WINDIR%\debug\*, etc.  It is probable that this accounts for the file count difference experienced.  I will go with that answer.  Thanks for all of the valuable input -- Much appreciated!

What is under File Selection in the Policy?
If there are Windows Mount Points on the server then ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES will only backup the drive letters, not mount points.
The solution is to combine ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES with 'Cross Mount Points' in the Attributes tab.

Check bpbkar log on client for info/errors.

First determine how the number of files is counted

35,205 **Files on Server Per ChkDsk on 2003server
31,304 **Files Written Per Netbackup

How does ChkDsk count files?
How does it determine what a file is?

CHKDSK will count even temporary internet files

Are U backuong up with the BMR option?

Try to restore it up in another computer to see if it works.
