Full vs incremental vs differential backup on Netbackup 7

I configured a test policy, with 2 diff schedule types, full & incremental (calender frequency for both). I tested the following scenario:

1) Touch a file app
2) Perform full backup. File app got backup.
3) Touch another file app1.
4) Perform incremental backup. Both app & app1 got backup.
5) Touch another file app2.
5) Perform incremental backup. All 3 files, app, app1 & app2 got backup.

I did the same for differential & getting the same results.  My master server is Netbackup 7.0 running on a Redhat Enterprise 5.3 64-bit.

Has anyone encountered this? Is this a bug in Netbackup 7.0?

Hi
for an incremental or differential backup to run you must first ensure that a full backup of the policy is done with a status 0
only then netbackup will perform an incremental or differential backup.
schedule the policy to run and send the job status on completion

From my senario above, I mentioned that it is a full backup first, followed by incremental.

does it exit with a status 0 ?

Yes, both full & incremental backups exit with status code 0.

now schedule the backups to run automatically.
make sure that the frequency is set to min 2 to allow the incremental to run after the full schedule.

Our fulls & incrementals are working correctly using NBU 7 - production and in the lab.

I have only ever see this behaviour when the full & incr were in different policies, i.e. not schedules within the same policy (I see that yours is in the same test policy.)

Yeap, mine is in the same policy. Anyway, I have also logged a case with Support. Waiting their reply also.
