Generate a report for Backup Overrun in NetBackup

Hi Friends,

I want to generate a report which contains the list of those clients whose Backup has overrun the backup window. We currently attempt to complete backups within approved backup windows, so for example if a backup window is 20:00-23:00 on Monday, I’d expect the backup to start and finish within this window, if the backup doesn’t finish until after this window. I want those client in that Backup overrun report. Is this possible. If yes how?

NetBackup Version is 7.6.0.1

One Master Server   Windows 2008 R2 and 3 Media server

No opscenter

Hi Rahul

What you're asking for would be very complicated to produce (IMHO). You'll need to pull information from multiple command outputs and then compare it.

The problem here is that NetBackup is not designed to work as described in your requirement. The Windows by design do not control when backups can run, but when they're allowed to start. If a job has started to run, i.e. is in the active state, it can continue if the window closes. If a job is in the queued state, i.e. has not transitioned to active, it will be stopped and you'll see Status 196.
