Getting Error Failed to initialize EMM connection. Please help...

My Envoirment :

Master Server :6.5.6 Solaris

Media Server :6.5.3 Windows Server 2008,Service Pack 2

We are gettingthe below  error on Media Server :

D:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\admincmd]nbemmcmd -getemmserver
NBEMMCMD, Version:6.5.3.1
Failed to initialize EMM connection. Verify that network access to the EMM serv
er is available and that the services nbemm and pbx_exchange are running on the
EMM server. (195)
Command did not complete successfully.

Please find the below steps which i performed:

Tested bpclntcmd from Media Server ( to Master Server:

Why is it giving you 2 different IP addresses for the same host? You should only have 1.Do you have this host in DNS too? with the 135.188.42.81 IP? that IP is not showing in your /etc/hosts file. What does bpclntcmd -pn show on the media server (this will tell you what the Master server thinks the IP is.

I agree - 2 IP addresses for the same hostname is going to work. TCP/IP will not know which interface to respond on.

You need to assign different hostnames to the 2 IP addresses.

Always remember to clear NBU host cache after updating hosts files.

NBU only refreshes host cache every hour. To manually clear after update:

bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache

By now it should have refeshed and bpclntcmd -pn will no longer display 2 IP's for the same hostname.

If all is well, please mark revaroo's post as Solution (the one where he pointed out 2 IP's for same hostname).
